Thanksgiving is here once more, and Christmas will soon be on the horizon. It's crazy to think how fast time has come and gone in order for us to say "Happy Holidays" once more. Amidst everything happening, holiday wise and shopping wise, taking the time to recognize everything that has happened in life is something I rarely do. I am so focused on all the chaos around me, that I forget the privileges I have in order to experience said chaos.
While this could be a post about the best Black Friday deals and which stores are open the second your family has cleared the Thanksgiving table, it dawned on me that rarely do I ever take a breather to just be thankful and grateful for everything in my life, and that's what i wanted to do with this post. Sure, shopping is fun and exciting, but taking the time to give thanks feels like where I should be putting my energy. I am so attune to the pressures I put myself under, that I forget to be thankful for them in the first place. While that may seem like an oxymoron, taking the time to recognize that the bad that comes with the good is just as sweet as the good itself is a new perspective that I have been focusing on.
While it may not be the easiest, and complaining about how difficult and overwhelming each task is as opposed to the good that will come from it, this Thanksgiving I hope to be truly present with every facet of my life and truly give thanks for all of them.
With so much to think about and be thankful for, the thing I am most thankful for is you, dear reader. I am thankful that you took the time to read this post. I'm thankful that you read it and came to your own conclusions, no matter what they look like. I' m thankful that you found me, and you took the time to remain by me as I go on this stupid journey called life.
I don't have anything figured out, I'm not even close, but at least recognizing that the bad in my life does not mean the absence of good in it as well is something I hope got focus more on. I wish you all a happy Thanksgiving and that your day is filled with love, joy and thanks as the holidays continue on into the new year.
