Here we are layering again, but this time with knits!
You may not be able to tell, but both of these pieces are actually thin knits! You also may not be able to tell, but both pieces are ribbed, one horizontally and one vertically. I have always loved the idea of a basic black dress you can pair with a shirt. Be it a short-sleeved shirt, a turtleneck underneath, or an oversized tee or sweater on top. I love that a basic black dress is the perfect base to play with pieces that lurk deep in the depths of our respective closets. It makes the piece feel instantly new and different with each pairing, which makes your closet seem a lot bigger than it actually may be 😉.
While this look may also seem a bit Halloweenie (my fave holiday of the YEAR) it again screams autumnal looks without too much heavy duty pieces. I also love how the ribbed detail plays with some texture. I’m not one to always look for textured pieces when I shop. Some look for colors, other prints or texture, but I’m pretty basic. If it looks great on me: I’m taking it, anything else it offers is just a bonus.
This pairing is a happy coincidence that makes me feel super 90’s and retro (always a fave) but also kinda trendy. I also love the versatility of a basic piece and how there are endless opportunities to transform something so simple.
Fashion is all about the little things and making them pop with your personality.
