When I tell you THIS shirt was the most difficult shirt of my life to style and wear, I am not being facetious.
I bought this button down probably two years ago, from Nasty Gal, and this is the first time I have been able to wear it in a presentable fashion.
When I had initially bought it, I was overcome with the pure fantasy of it all. I imagined it was going to hang off my shoulders in a careless manner, and drape so elegantly across my décolleté, exposing just the tiniest hint of my lace underpinnings whilst showing enough of my collarbone to give my ever tangling golden necklaces the main stage... Yea. NO.
The buttons, on this particular button-down, are all off which makes it the most un-flattering. Like one button buttoned too high- I'm amish. One button unbuttoned too low - Exposed boobies. Just not my jam.
So, imagine my absolute excitement when I decided to pull my head out of my ass and actually "style" the top (thanks MODA 😉). The great thing about fashion, and furthermore: style, is that you can literally play, pin, tuck, tailor ANY garment to your heart's content and create a whole new look or idea.
Of course, tying a dress shirt isn't exactly a groundbreaking innovation, but, hey, it really was something I never thought to try before.
Also, the oversized pant leg kinda gives the look a more homegrown, effortless vibe. Also, isn't the panama hat just the cutest? So fun and different.
While it may be too hot to wear something like this everyday of the summer, the day I wore the outfit it was a little bit cooler than it had been in a while, with added rain and thunder (cue my excited squealing). However, it's perfect for maybe one of those weird summer evenings where you hightail it to beac, and you're jonesing for a top that you can button, unbutton, tuck or tie, and this one is the perfect option to make that wish come true.
