While I love to devour magazines as much as the next fashionista, sometimes I just want to unapologetically dive into a wonderfully delicious novel. While most of the books I read can hardly be described as literary works of art, they bring me joy and also help me unplug from the world. I consume books like I consume air, and that is something I hope will never change.
☀️ Here are a few of my current summer faves ☀️
Confessions of a Beauty Addict is a cute little novel for anyone who is a beauty guru, or wants a look into the life of one. The main character, Bella, is the beauty editor for a high-end fashion magazine. Until one day a careless comment sends her to the dregs of the beauty world where choosing which concealer to help cover your eye-bags due to sleepless kids is more common than eye-bags caused by drunken nights. It's a fun easy read that makes you think twice about the real meaning of beauty #naturally.
The Widow's Guide to Sex and Dating is such an unexpectedly cute read. The author is Carole Radziwill (shout to RHONY) and she spins a tale that makes you instantly enchanted from the very first sentence. While the story can come off as lighthearted and ironic, the underlying theme of what it means to truly look at yourself, in the most honest sense, is ever present.
They All Fall Down is a great little fan fiction for anyone obsessed with scream Queens. A little juvenile, maybe, but who cares! The tale follows a chick named Kenzie who was just listed as one of the hottest girls in school. While this list may seem legit for anyone on it, it also carries a huge curse. One by one the girls on the list begin to die mysteriously, and Kenzie notices that she is not immune to death either. The book is a page turner for sure, and is not predictable in the slightest. A great read for anyone missing halloween... or maybe I'm the only psycho that is?
Cherry is a cute little coming of age tale that takes you back to a time when life didn't seem as complicated, friends were forever, and "love" was a four letter word and "sex" three. Each girl's voice in the novella is truly unique and independent from each other, which I love. Sometimes, reading a book with so many character changes, it can be hard for the reader to discern who is who. While each character is so uniquely on their own journey, as far as sex and love are concerned, their friendship is woven so tightly through the whole story. It honestly makes you want to pick up your phone and start a group chat with all your besties telling them how much you love and adore them for always being there #sappy. It's a great reminder that yes, boys may come and go, but friends truly are forever.
Hope you found something fun to read while laying out in the summer sun!
