There is nothing I love more than trying different styles, seeing the different trends, and choosing my favorite things from the batch.
I think everyone loves doing that, hello individuality, but rounding up some of my favorite things is truly my favorite thing to do! I love finding something, obsessing over it, finding out it’s actually the best thing ever and then proceeding to share my finds with you. Here are a few things I loved during the last few months of summer, and also products that will most likely stick around from here until winter!
Pastel Nail Polish
Okay, so this is the most unoriginal thing, but it’s an obsession. I never liked pastel polish until Very. Recently. I figured the type of girl that would sport a perfectly pale mani was just as uninteresting as her hue of choice.
Prissy. Snobby. Vanilla. You get it.
However, when I recently picked up this polish I was converted into a life of pastel. I just loved how it made my hand look and feel so feminine. I loved how it made me feel graceful and delicate and poised, even if I’m none of those things. I also realized the amazing power of something that seemed so small and insignificant. The ability it had to change my outlook on life, and make me feel new again, was a truly profound experience. Maybe the experience is more exhilarating than the color? But regardless, here are a few choices that can take you on your own spiritual journey.
Okay. I have NEVER been one to find a “facial routine.” Like, what even is this hocus-pocus you speak of. Those who have their face figured out either:
1. Have no face problems to begin with, or
2. See Number 1
I can attest to this because I have seen EVREY dermatologist in LA County. You think I kid, and I wish I had something to show for it, but I don’t. I have tried every prescribed medical ointment, pill, wash, toner, whatever; and my face just laughs. Like “HA, try again.” So when I tell you for the past few months I have just been using water and the occasional brown sugar scrub, I do not lie. However my face, in true face fashion, stayed the same.
So what’s the point of this post.
Well, rewind to a moth ago I was getting my brows waxed and my esthetician realized my skin was not so cute. Telling her I was at my wits end and would try literally ANYTHING (except Accutane because that shit is too much) she recommended these simple items:
Let me tell you, my skin may not be 100, but it has definitely cleared up. My mother even noticed, and she only notices the flaws, so #winning. Also, top the skin off with a little bit of Pond's Dry Skin Cream.
Skin be Dewy.
Who doesn’t love a great sweater? Right! I’ve been wearing this one pretty much non-stop since June. I love that even though it has been hot in California, the looser weave makes it breathable for cool summer nights or right after a dip in the ocean. Here are a few other faves to throw on when the night air is calling your name and you find yourself on the coast at 2 am 😉
Can you be obsessed with a person? I think yes. Next to Joan Didion and Audrey Hepburn, Eve Babitz has stolen my heart. I recently read “Slow Days, Fast Company” and became immediately obsessed with everything about her. While this is isn’t a “fashion item” her works are good for the soul, and every fashionista needs that.
So there you have it! I hope you enjoyed reading about a few of my favorite things.
