I have a thing for stripes. Well do I really have a thing for stripes? I have a thing for Zara, and Zara has a thing for stripes, so I inadvertently have a thing for stripes. Is that a non-sequitur?
Enough existentialism, let’s talk sweaters!
My favorite, absolute favorite, thing to style and shop any time of the year is sweaters. And I mean ANY time of the year! I actually bought this sweater like mid-august, but whatever. It’s the most soft and comfy sweater I own next to my free-people pieces, and I knew that if I left it in the store it would have been a sin.
Also, I love how it’s kinda cropped without actually baring any skin if I wear a high waist. I’m not a total crop-top person, but something that hits more of my hips is always a welcome change to the oversized sweaters I usually wear. Also, wearing a cropped sweater can kinda help you get away with wearing a fall piece without the complete commitment of an actual fall garment. Like, yes, I am wearing something that screams fall, but it’s cropped so I can avoid sweating my life away until the weather decides to get with the program.
It’s almost like the best of both worlds.
Also, I love that there are also some holes in the sweater (even if you can't see them) which makes it seem a little more deconstructed and effortless. Paired with this metallic skirt it’s one-part fall and one-part summer. Or, maybe it’s just two parts confused, but it’s a great ensemble for late dinners out. It’s kind of like the layering rule again, yes there is a slight breeze, so the sweater is perfect for that, but it’s also more on the warmer side, so a skirt makes me feel not as covered up and overheated.
Paired with some boots or strappy heels, it’s a fun go-to look for a fun fall night out.
