In a perfect world, every day of fall would be a beautiful medley of crisp colorful leaves falling from trees all caused by a slight breeze. It would be a magical moment in time that allows one to wear a light sweater or pullover, a pair of jeans and not feel like their whole life is melting around them.
This however is not the reality of fall.
The reality of fall is that the days seem hotter than summer ever was, and the mornings feel as if you’ve just taken up residence in Antarctica?
Can’t I just enjoy my pumpkin spice latte wrapped in a fuzzy sweater with jeans and booties in peace?
Well, until that happens come December, fall is all about the layers. I broke it down in this post on all of the fall essentials, but one piece that I will always pair, style and purchase is a light cardigan. I can’t help myself in general when it comes to sweaters of any kind, but this kind is especially my favorite. I love that they make me feel cozy yet polished, and they don’t add as much bulk around the midsection like a hoodie can.
This sweater I’m wearing is perfect because it’s a high-low situation. The longer length is great for cooler nights when I want a make-shift scarf, but also great for hotter breezier days when I want something to cover my arms. Also, the high-low look gives the sweater a dynamic edge that makes it a little more fun to pair and play with.
A lighter cardigan is great to throw in your bag, your car, or leave at your desk. I always keep one in my car because you just never know where the day may lead, and a lighter fabric plays nice with any temperature or any layered outfit you may be whipping up.
