Does it look like London, or is that just me? Technically the people who colonized America did come from London, so perhaps the similarities aren’t too far off. I am in Georgetown in Washington D.C.! I am not there anymore, unfortunately, but I was able to take a quick weekend jaunt over to the east coast to see a friend and experience her life for a bit. I always enjoy weekends away to far off cities, or towns that are only a few hours’ drive, because visiting a friend in their own space is so special and important. Also, how many more opportunities am I going to have where all my girls are single and making their own way in this life all courtesy of a cute apartment? Probably not for much longer, since they’re all gems, so I’m going to take the opportunities while they’re there.
Any who, this outfit is super simple and easy. It was HOT and HUMID in D.C., something I am not used to since it seems to be quite a cold summer in California this year *sob* however, I did get to soak in a few rays, shop a little and overall just have a relaxing time away from the buzz of home. This outfit is easy and fun. Cutoffs are obviously my first love when it comes to summer, and these ones have a little personality with the cartoon sketches and writings. While it’s not easy to see them, I promise they’re there, and I got them two summers ago at Zara and have yet to find a piece that is similar, but regardless, cut-offs are always a yes.
Also, this top is just a simple silk cami. It has lace paneling, which is also hard to see because it is black, but the sweetheart neckline makes it all the more sweeter. Summer means hot, but not drab. Finding pieces that are comfortable and easy to pair, but have a cute detail, like embroidery or a certain hem, can transform the outfit and make it feel a bit more fun and “fancy.” There’s nothing worse than pulling the same shorts, with the same tee and feeling uninspired by the heat. Taking the opportunity to rework favorites in a different form, can spark that fashion inspiration right back up.
Also, none of these garments are from Madewell, but you will get to see what’s in the bag soon. I’m sure you’re dying to know.
