Summer is about many things. It’s about the warm weather, the frose, the cotton and linen pieces paired with barely there bikinis, but it’s also about the most important thing about you: YOUR SKIN!
Okay, that’s not the most important thing. The most important thing is your smile, but these products can help that too. When you have fresh glowy skin, and no trace of a sunburn, a smile will definitely be plastered on that pretty little face of yours.
These “makeup” products are definitely the little secrets I’ve been packing away in my weekend bag. While they aren’t proper makeup products, per-say, they are basically the cosmetics of summer. Something easy to apply, that helps you looking sun-kissed and glowy all day and waaaay into the night.
This B.Tan moisturizer is actually the self-tanner of your dreams. It’s what Aveeno does, and does well might I say, just all grown up. The tan isn’t orange, it doesn’t smell bad, and it actually moisturizes your skin after a long day of salt, water, and sun. It works fast too. Say you have a wedding on Friday and you get this Monday, you are more than ready to look like you just stepped off a plane from Aruba that Friday night. It really is the most amazing secret weapon, and one that has completely surpassed my jaded expectations.
Hello Supergoop, this has been popping up on everyone’s feed, and maybe everyone’s beach bag? I love this because it is a setting spray with SPF 50! It keeps your face exactly how you made it, perfectly intact. You’re dewy? It doesn’t make you oily. You’re matte? It doesn’t make you shiny. You feel? Also, the other Supergoop product is for if you don’t have any make-up at all and want a little spritz of something that is fresh and fun, but also has SPF. While this sis also a setting spray, I find it wonderful for a quick spritz after a day out in the sun with little to no make-up. It keeps your face looking healthy and hydrated, and the Rosemary calms any redness. Not like a whole lot of redness, but it still is nice to have. Also, there’s SPF in there too.
While we’re on the subject of sunscreen (since isn’t that the main course of all beauty products during the summer?) this Babyganics sunscreen is great if you have sensitive skin. My skin gets rashy and irritated in very hot, humid climates. However, I can’t forfeit sunscreen, so essentially my skin is irritated and red and blotchy and not cute, but when I welcomed this into my life, I was forever transformed. Maybe not completely, but it’s a start. It’s mineral based which means it doesn’t apply greasy, and doesn’t leave my skin oily or irritated. My skin soaks up all the goodness and protects me for the day, resulting in little irritation from my topical product, since the humidity is already providing all the irritation my skin can handle. I also love to apply a thin layer of this under my makeup. It doesn’t set oily, and gives me the protecting I need, and also plays so nicely with my makeup since it’s mineral based.
Now moving on to repair. These are the three products I use when I’m turning in from a day or night out.
Laneige is a Korean skin care line that is receiving quite some recognition from Sephora. I picked the hydrating sleep mask up (which is the blue tub) since it was the best option for my first try at a sleeping mask. I must say, it is completely everything I would hope for. It left my skin much brighter the following weeks after applying it, and definitely more hydrated. I love it because I can put it on and not worry about timers and sitting around. While there are other one’s out there that may do more, this was a great starter sleep mask and I am excited to try their lip masks. Lip dryness is no joke during any season, but especially during the summer. We got to keep those lips kissable ladies, and I’m sure this is just the little product to help you with that.
Now this is again a facial spray, but can we really have too many sprays or sunscreen products…no. This one is the Lavender edition of the Rose setting spray everyone has come to love by Mr. Badescu. I love to spray this all over my moisturizer, toner, masks, what have you, at night before I go to bed. The Lavender helps me to shut my brain off, and is a fun little addition to add to my night time arsenal, and my never ending quest for hydration.
This last Product is random, but I am loving it! The Decollate area is a very sacred place that should be given much respect and attention. When I found this oil is for specifically the chest/ boobie area I had to purchase it immediately. The tissue around this area is thinner and more susceptible to sun damage and aging over time. I always apply cocoa butter everywhere, but having oils that specifically help to repair and hydrate this sensitive area makes me feel all the more protected. It also smells very organic. I don’t love the smell, but it achieves what it sets out to accomplish, and that’s all I’m after.
Whew! That was a lot. Way more than I was expecting, but when It comes to skincare more details are better than not enough, no? I hope you found something to add to your summer arsenal, and that you soak up every sun ray summer has to offer.
