The moment I saw this dress, it took me right back to Santorini. Now maybe that’s a cop out, because basically anything that is white and blue and has some unique flower embroidery instantly reminds me of Greece, but seriously I was so happy when I found this little gem tucked away in a boutique on 14th street in D.C.
While this may run a bit on the larger side, I could NOT pass it up. It’s great for a cover-up, or if you have a fun bralette with lace, it can make the perfect paring. Now I am obviously not in D.C or Greece in this picture, nor do I have a bralette, but it serves its purpose all the same. Having pieces that can transport you to other places is like a mini vacation without the price tag. It’s a wonderful little fantasy you get to play out in your head all on your own.
Like, the minute I grabbed this I was transported on the Cliffside of Santorini, overlooking the Mediterranean tending to my make-shift garden in my home, just taking in the sea breeze and warm air before the day began to boil over into temperatures too hot to move in. Weird, right? But it makes shopping all the more special when you can see exactly where you would be with a piece like that. It’s like a nod to yourself saying, “yes, all things are possible and you found a treasure along the way proving that it is.” I mean, it all begins and ends with your outfit right?
Regardless of the narrative this outfit provides, we all know I love my blues and whites and cotton breathable pieces for summer, and this is just another one of those lovely pieces. Also, oddly enough, while the dress may not be from the isles of Greece the hat actually is! So, see, once day I might just take this dress over to my favorite island and introduce her to my dream.
